MY INCREDIBLE JOURNEY WITH SQUAD HIJRAH
Coming back
to SMK Bandar Tasik Puteri after finishing my Master of Multimedia In Education
at UPSI back in 2010, I started usrah session with some 20 students from form
5, 3 and 1. The usrah session grow in term of number of participants from time
to time. By 2012 we can get up until 100 members per session. Usrah is not a
lecture or teaching session.
It’s a circle of love where we discuss about who we are, why we are created and where are we going. We learn to know and love our creator, Allah s.w.t. and his messenger Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. The 2010-2012 period is like the Makiyyah age from Rasulullah s.a.w where He teaches about the oneness of the almighty god Allah swt. By mid 2012 I was already planning to go to next level. Just as Rasulullah was planning to hijrah to Medina after 10 years of propagating Islam in Mecca. Following the sunnah of Rasulullah s.a.w is crutial to make sure the success of any dakwah mission. He showed the way and thus we should follow.

On 4th.
January 2013, I set up a meeting to move to the next stage of dakwah. I called
about 10 ex students to joint the meeting. I laid out the big plan. We were
going to set an official group so that we could move further and organized
programs not just for the benefit of the students but also to contribute to the
Bandar Tasik Puteri community, surrounding community and even to the ummah of
the world. We didn’t plan just to be community players but world players. Think
big like Rasulullah s.a.w.
Later on the
name ‘Squad Hijrah’ was coined by me from inspiration that Allah has given me
in my dream. ‘Squad’ to show oneness in heart and intention, to show some thing
that is always moving and progressing, something that is not static. ‘Hijrah’
to show our intention to keep on improving. From bad to good, from good to
better, from better to even better…a never ending quest to keep on improving
until the day we close our eyes.
In the
beginning (2013) the kids follow behind me. For every program I made all the
plans and trained them to talk in public and to be good organizers of program.
In the first program, ‘MencintaiMu MencintaiNya’ I had to literally spoon-feed
all the words for the MC and moderator of the program. They were shaking to
face the public of Bandar Tasik Puteri for the first time. But everything went
well. In 2015, in our third year, they prepared the proposal paper for every
program, set up the committee members, created all the slots (and very creative
at that too), and handle the whole program on the day itself from registration
to closing ceremony. They already understood that each slot must be created to
fulfill certain target, a target that is aimed for participants to increase
obedient to Allah. What’s my function? I’m truly a moderator now, being
referred to only when they need my opinion. And Allah has sent so many great
people to help me in my mission. Subhanallah.
I feel that
my personal mission is achieved now – to produce ‘dae’ or preachers of Islam
who are much, much better than me. Thank you Allah for all that You have grant
to me. Allah, You are indeed the most beneficent and the most merciful. Syukur
Alhamdulillah.
